Shimabara Castle
Shimabara Castle, located in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, is a stunning white-walled castle built in the early Edo Period as the residence of the local feudal lord. The castle was known for its extravagance and was significantly larger than those in domains of similar status.
The heavy taxation required for its construction and the religious persecution of local Christians were major factors leading to the Shimabara Rebellion.
Although destroyed during the Meiji Period, the castle was reconstructed in concrete in 1964.
Additionally, ATEX’s own factory is located here in Shimabara.
